4 Stages of Change
- Denial (Forming)
▪ Help by informing those affected
▪ Goal: Help other see the need for the change
- Resistance (Storming)
▪ Help by Listening
▪ Goal: Enrol People in the Change
▪ Involves getting people ready to accept the change and become
active in the process of change
- Exploration (Norming)
▪ Help by Facilitating
▪ Goal: Create direction for change
▪ Involves creating the vision and road map for the change. Energy
is channelled towards exploring possibilities and developing new
skills.
- Commitment (Performing)
▪ Help by Recognition
▪ Goal: Acknowledge
achievements and
maintain momentum
and focus
▪ This stage provides
relief and a period for
congratulations and
a chance to look back
and see the progress
made.
- (Optional) Sometimes
(re-Norming)
The Four Leadership Styles
There are 4 Leadership Styles, and each leadership style is a unique
combination of Directive and Supportive Behavior.
