The AFM
!!On October 17, 2007,
the AFM signed a new two-
year agreement that states
that the union scale for jin-
gles that are produced for
the Internet will also apply
jingles recorded for cell
phones, iPods, MP3s, pod-
casts, and additional digital
media. This new agreement
is referred to as ‘‘new
media.’’ The scale, which is
currently $110 per session,
will increase to $115. In ad-
dition, a $32 fee will be paid
for the first six months of
initial use and $86.25 for
each succeeding 52-week
period. If the commercial
was originally recorded for
use for traditional television
or radio, the fees will be
$86.25 for each 52-week pe-
riod. For more comprehen-
sive information, view the
AFM website.
The following information comes from
the AFM website (www.afm.org). This
organization is affiliated with the AFL-
CIO.
With over 250 local unions throughout
the United States and Canada, we are the
largest union in the world, representing
the interests of professional musicians.
The union represents musicians, con-
tractors, music copyists, arrangers,
orchestrators, vocalists, and conductors.
Members file contracts for records, film,
television and videotape, broadcast tele-
vision, cable television, pay television,
television and radio commercials, live
events, industrial films, and other orga-
nized events. Except for the Commercial
Announcements Agreement, there are no
standard rates for the Internet as of yet. It
is an all-inclusive union.
