persons' became thoroughly assinu'lated into Chris-
tian life and thought."I
A little, later the same Encyclopaedia says even
more emphatically :
"The formulation one God in three persons' was not
solidly established into Christian life and its profes-
sion ,of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century. But it
is precisely this formulation that has first claim to the
title the Trinitarian dogma. Among the Apostolic, Fa-
thers, there had been nothing even remotely approach-
ing such a entali.ty or perspective." I
So the doctrine of the Trinity was not taught by Je-
sus Christ, 'It is nowhere found in the Bible (both the
Old and the new Testaments), it vas completely for-
eign to the menality and perspective of the early
Christians; it became a part of the Christian faith to-
wards the end of the fourth century.
