Requiem
Korn
Upon announcing the nu metal group Korn’s
14th studio album, a press release hinted at
a sound somewhat diferent from previous
Korn material as a result of the relatively
large amount of free time that had opened
up for the band due to the pandemic.
FIVE FACTS:
- The above-mentioned press release
describes Requiem as “an album born
of time and the ability to create without
pressure”, and refers to “a new creative
process free of time constraints”. - This situation meant the band was able
to do things it had previously tended to
shy away from, like “taking additional time
to experiment” or “diligently recording to
analog tape”. - These methods “unearthed newfound sonic
dimension and texture” in the music, the
press release continued. - “Start the Healing”, the album’s irst single,
is accompanied by a video directed by
Tim Saccenti. - “I wanted to take the viewer on an emotional
journey, as the song does,” Saccenti said about
the video, which combines elements of live
action and animation.
