Automotive Service Technicians and Numeracy
Automotive Service Technicians often use the skills outlined in the Principles of
Mathematics on a daily basis to complete job tasks. The complexity of these tasks,
according to Human Resources and Skills Development Canada’s Essential Skills
Profile, ranges from simple, clearly-defined mathematical operations (i.e., read gas,
temperature and oil pressure gauges) to operations that require several steps of
calculation (i.e., measure mechanical parts).
