The most important financial decision that you will ever make is the se-
lection of your financial advisor. This one choice will influence almost
every other financial decision you will make.

WIll YoU Be YoUR oWn ADvIsoR?

That is kind of like a doctor trying to do his own brain surgery. Not im-
possible, I guess, but extremely dangerous!

Will you rely on what you can learn from reading books by people like
Dave Ramsey or Suze Orman?

Maybe you could get your advice from Money Magazine, or one of
the other money financial publications that now cover the walls of area
bookstores. “The rich are taking their advice from professional finan-
cial advisors. The poor are getting their advice from Money Magazine,”
Robert Veres, financial author, explained. Again, it is not impossible
to find good solid advice and help this way, but it can be very time-
consuming and eye-straining.

You could watch hours and hours of financial news programs on TV every
day: CNBC, The Wall Street Report, Mad Money, etc. Good info? Usually.
Good entertainment? Often. Good for your marriage? Hardly ever!

The most logical choice for most people is to find a highly qualified,
well-seasoned, honest, ethical, and trusted financial advisor. You may
think that this sounds like an impossible task. Though I agree it can be
quite difficult to find a trusted advisor, our firm’s 30-year track record of
being chosen by people just like you tells me it can be done.

Before becoming a broker with Merrill Lynch, Suze Orman,
the best-selling financial author and TV personality, was a
waitress for the Buttercup Bakery in Berkeley, California.
Why would Merrill Lynch hire a waitress? According to
Ms. Orman: “They weren’t hiring a waitress. What they saw
in me was that I would be an excellent saleswoman.”
