Whatever your circumstances might be, there are always lessons to be
learned and knowledge to be gained. Don’t look at negative circum-
stances as wasted time. There are very valuable lessons to be learned
during difficult times. Fortunately for me, I was never the one that was
in the tumultuous waves of loss that hit my industry. However, as a
turn-around specialist, I had to be with those individuals in the storm
and get them into the lifeboats. There were some situations that could
not be saved, but I would always do whatever I could to make sure the
individuals involved had the best opportunities possible to make their
businesses work.


Being through those good and bad times over a number of years has
equipped me with an arsenal of knowledge that I still use today when
selling real estate. My title today may not sound as fancy and glamor-
ous, but the basic skills I used in very high level meetings to negoti-
ate multi-million dollar corporate deals are the same skills I use when
working with a home owner. I think the big distinction today between
my peers and me is the sharpness of those skills and the knowledge I
have obtained through experience. I have been able to compile a rare
combination of experience in both real estate and finance that enables
me to provide my clients with a sophisticated level of knowledge and
service unique to the real estate industry. My intention here is not to be
boastful. I just want to make a point. If you want to be a leader in your
field, make sure you are the most knowledgeable person. Allow your
experiences, both positive and negative, to be life-lessons that will mold
you and shape you into a resourceful person. You will find that people
will flock to you, even if you are the “new kid on the block.” Not only
will your peers see you as an expert, more importantly, your clients will
see the great distinction between you and your peers. That results in
more business and greater potential for success.
