Chapter 39


CHARITY


Charity,whichstandsforgooddoing,isthebesttraitandthebestfruit
ofexistence.Itresultsinpeople’sdocilityandcollectivehonoring.Italso
causestheillustriousmentioningafterdeath.Islamhaspositivelyadop-
ted and called to charity. God says:
Surely,Allahenjoinsthedoingofjusticeandthedoingofgoodtooth-
ersandthegivingtothekindred,andHeforbidsindecency,andeviland
rebellion.
Hedefinesitasthebestquality:Andwhoeversubmitshimselfwholly
toAllahandheisthedoerofgoodtoothers,heindeedhastakenholdof
thefirmest thing upon which one can lay hold.
He alsourges ondoing charity, andpromised of rewardingwhat is
better:
Whoeverbringsgood,heshallhavebetterthanit,andtheyshallbese-
cure from terror on that day.
He promises of rewarding the good doing tenfold:
Whoever brings a good deed, he shall have ten like it.
Godalsopromisesofkeepingtherewardofthecharitableandreward-
ing them with the best:
Andbepatient,forsurelyAllahdoesnotwastetherewardofthegood
doers.
Charity isa principal pillar of constructing the human societies and
thebestmeansofdispersingreciprocalloveandassociation.Goddefines
somepartiesandordersoftreatingthembenevolentlybecauseoftheties
of relation, neighborhood or being without custody. God says:
Andserve Allah and do not associate any thingwith Him.And be
goodtotheparentsandtothenearofkinandtoorphansandtheneedy
andtheneighborofyourkinandthealienneighbor,andthecompanion
inajourneyandthewayfarerandthosewhomyourrighthandspossess.
Surely, Allahdoesnot lovehimwho isproud,boastful.God compares
