THE EVIL TENDENCIES

Theeviltendenciesthatlieinthementalhorizonsstimulatetoeviland
sinning,andoccludeagainstthe straightpath.Iftheyareleftfree,they
willovercomeandappropriatethe virtuoustraitsandnoblemoralsby
whichthehumanbeingsdifferfromanimals.Islamhasposedthesound
basesof uprooting andceasingthe activitiesof sucheviltendenciesso
thatmankindwillbesavedagainstvicesandsins.Muslimethicistshave
studied these tendencies on the light of the Quranic and prophetic texts.
