The user clicks on the Create button in the menu immediately above the libraries list in the All
Site Content page (see Figure 32.8) to display the gallery of SharePoint page types (see Figure
32.9). SharePoint supports a wide variety of page types, including document and wiki libraries,
contact lists, and calendars.

SharePoint easily supports multiples of any type of SharePoint list. For example, a professional
organization might have a calendar of events and another calendar of board meetings, with differ-
ent permissions and entirely different items on each.
In this case, the user wants to add a public wiki where the SharePoint site members can make sug-
gestions for future events. She double-clicks on Wiki Page Library in the Libraries list to
open the New properties page. In Figure 32.10 the user is providing the new wiki’s name, and
(optionally) a description of the wiki. By default the new wiki is accessible from the Quick Launch
navigation menu at the left side of all the SharePoint pages in the site. But, if needed, the wiki’s
presence in the Quick Launch list can be suppressed by changing the navigation option below the
description box. If the wiki is hidden from the Quick Launch, an alternate method, such as a
hyperlink on another page, should be provided to access the wiki page.
