RX8--Transmission (Manual & Auto)

• Disconnect the TR switch connector.


• Inspect for continuity between the TCM
  (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
  
  P position: terminal 1D and body
  ground
  
  R position: terminal 2C and body
  ground
  
  N position: terminal 2B and body
  ground
  
  D range: terminal 2E and body
  ground


• Is there continuity?

No Go to the next step.

Yes Go to Step 12.

INSPECT TR SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR OPEN

CIRCUIT

• Inspect for continuity between the TR
  switch (wiring harness-side) and TCM
  (wiring harness-side).
  
  P position: terminal A and terminal
  1D
  
  R position: terminal E and terminal
  2C
  
  N position: terminal D and terminal
  2B
  
  D range: terminal G and terminal
  2E


• Is there continuity?

No Repair or replace the wiring harness, then go

to Step 13.

Yes Go to the next step.

INSPECT TR SWITCH POWER CIRCUIT FOR

OPEN CIRCUIT

• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK
  position.


• Disconnect the TR switch connector.


• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position
  (engine off).


• Inspect the voltage at TR switch (wiring
  harness-side) terminal C.


• Is there B+ at TR switch (wiring harness-
  side) terminal C?

No

Inspect the main fuse.

• If normal, repair or replace the wiring
  harness, then go to Step 13.

11 Yes Go to the next step.
