ten years, that number would double—
and along the way, the crime rate in
California came tumbling down.
Between 1994 and 1998, the homicide
rate in California dropped 41.4 percent,
rape dropped 10.9 percent, robbery
dropped by 38.7 percent, assault
dropped by 22.1 percent, burglary
dropped by 29.9 percent, and auto theft
dropped by 36.6 percent. Mike Reynolds
