Therefore,thereareno“voids,”“cavities”or“emptyspaces”intheuni-
verse.AllisONE.Indianphilosophyusestheterm“ether”todescribe
space.
Whatweseemtoperceivewithoursensesisinreality,onlydifferentaspectsofthesamesubstance.
Thatis,whenenergy“vibrates”atahighspeed(frequency),itappearsasalight(lessdense,less
weight)materialsuchasgasorelectricity.Whenit“vibrates”atalowerspeed,itappearsasasolid
(densematerial)objectsuchasrocksormetal.Thehigherthevibrationsare,themoresubtlethe“ma-
terial”willappeartobe.Theslowerthevibrationsare,themoresolid,rigidandstaticitwillappearto
be.Whenmattervibratesatveryhighrates,itgoesbeyondthegaseousstate;thenmatterappearsas
rayssuchassun-raysorX-rays.Athigherratesofvibration,itwouldbesosubtlethatitcouldfitin
betweenthe“emptyspaces”intheslowervibratingmatter.Itcouldpassthroughitor“reside”init.
Thisisthesubtlerealmofthe“spirit”bodywhich“inhabits”the“physical”body.Theobjectofall
spiritualmovementsisto“identify”one’sconsciousness,one’sconceptofwhooneis,withthe
“subtlestreality”ratherthanwiththegrossphysicalrealitybecausethephysicaloneisperishableand
transient,whereasthesubtlestoneistranscendentalandimmortal.Infact,itisthe“subtle”spiritfrom
which“gross”matteriscreated.Forthisreason,keepinga“light”lifestylewhichpromoteshigher
mental vibrations, a “light” diet and “light” thoughts are important as will be seen in further chapters.

ThenewgenerationofphysicistsbeginningwithAlbertEinsteinhasdevelopeda“newphysics.”
Theynowbelievethatmatter,thatis,everythingwhichcanbeperceivedwithoursenses,including
ourbodies,isan“ILLUSION.”Ifweweretolookatmatterthewayittrulyis,wewouldseestruc-
turesthatappearassmallplanetsandmoonscirclingthematlightningspeeds.Eventhemostsolid
lookingstructuresarereallymoving;everythingisinperpetualmotion.Further,wewouldseethat
matterseemstocomeoutofnowhereandthengoesbackinto“nowhere-ness.”Asall“matter”is
composedofthesame“stuff,”thedifferentobjectsweseeintheworldaremerelydifferentcombina-
tionsofthesamematerialsubstancecommontoallthings;thisiswhatismeantbyanillusionorap-
pearance of multiplicity and variety. The “new physics” says that matter is nothing more than energy.
