Egyptiandoctoroftheanuswentfarbeyondthemodernmedicalproctologist, 99 sincetheshepherds
were concerned with the entire functioning of the mettu system throughout the body.
ItshouldbekeptinmindthatwhiletheAncientEgyptiansmayatfirstappeartobefanaticalintheir
concernaboutthecolon,theirresultsweresoimpressivethateveninthetwentiethcentury,research-
ersarediscoveringthebenefitsofcoloncleansing.Theconnectionbetweencolonhygieneandmen-
tal health has also been established.
