WHAT IS SEMAI TAWI (EGYPTIAN YOGA)?

ThetermSmai(Sema,Sama)Tawi,or“Sma”forshort,iscompatiblewiththeIndianSanskritword
“Yoga”whichmeansunionoftheHigherSelfandLowerself.InChapter 4129 andChapter 17130 of
thePrtmHru,or“BookofEnlightenment,”aterm“SmaiTawi”isused.Itmeans“Unionofthetwo
landsofEgypt.”Thetwolandsreferstothetwomaindistrictsofthecountry(NorthandSouth)and,
inamysticalsensetheyrefertothegodsHeruandSet,whoareelsewherereferredtoasthespiritual
HigherSelfandlowerselfofahumanbeing,respectively.Ergowearriveattheterm“Egyptian
Yoga.”
Thepersonalityofeveryhumanbeingissomewhatdifferentfromeveryother.Howevertheancient
SagesofYogaidentifiedfourbasicfactorswhicharecommontoallhumanpersonalitiesandhuman
life.Thesefactorsare:Emotion,Reason,ActionandWill.Also,thehumanpersonalityexpressesin
threebasicformats.TheseareDullness,AgitationandLucidity(HarmonyandPurity). 131 This
meansthatinorderforahumanbeingtoproperlyevolve,allaspectsofthepersonalitymustdevelop
in an integral fashion.
Allformsofspiritualpracticearedirectedtowardthegoalofassistingeveryindividualtodiscover
thetrueessenceoftheuniversebothexternally,inphysicalcreation,andinternally,withinthehuman
heart,astheveryrootofhumanconsciousness.Thus,manytermsareusedtodescribetheattainment
ofthegoalofspiritualknowledgeandtheeradicationofspiritualignorance,accordingtothedifferent
mysticalspiritualitysystems.Someofthesetermsare:Enlightenment,Resurrection,Salvation,The
KingdomofHeaven,MokshaorLiberation,BuddhaConsciousness,OneWithTheTao,Self-realiza-
tion,KnowThyself,etc.Also,manynameshavebeenusedtodescribethattranscendentalessence:
God, Allah, Asar, Aset, Krishna, Buddha, The Higher Self, Supreme Beingand many others.
SmaiTawiorEgyptianYogaisthephilosophyanddisciplinesbasedonAncientEgyptianmysticism
whichpromotespiritualenlightenment.Spiritualenlightenmentmeansamovementtowardstran-
scendingdeath.Inthiscontextdeathisnotregardedasamiserableevent,butatransitionintoa
