whodoesnot“Know”themselves,isconsideredtobementallyill,thedegreeofdis-


easebeinginaccordancewiththeextentofthelackofSelf-knowledge.Sowhat


generalsocietyconsidersasbeingpsychologicallynormal,yogaphilosophywould


considerasabnormal,andwhatgeneralsocietyconsidersasabnormal,yogawould


considerasbeingseverelyaffected.Thus,yogaurgesthestudent(aspirant,initiate)


tobecome“supernormal,”andriseupagainstthesesociallyaccepted,butdetriment-


alnorms.Itisinterestingtonote,thatinrecentstatementsreleasedoverthenews


mediabythepsychologicalassociation,theystatedthatnewresearchindicatesthe


conditionofangertobeatemporarystateofpsychologicalimbalance,andofcourse


wearealsofamiliarwiththeterm,“temporaryinsanity,”whichdescribes,inanal-


mostcondoningway,thepsychologicalstatewhereasocalledrationalpersonacts


inanintenselyunbalancedpsychologicalmanner.Therefore,mysticalphilosophy
