withoutaculture.Certainlywecanseethisisthecasetoday.Intoday’ssociety,everyonethinksof
culturemoreintermsofraceandethnicity.However,culturehasamoreuniversalmeaning,aspiritu-
almeaning,becauseahumanbeingismorethantheirphysicalbody.Rather,astheKemeticteach-
ingstellus,“MenandWomenaremortalGodsandGoddesses,andtheGodsandGoddessesareim-
mortalhumanbeings.”Thus,menandwomenaredivinebeings,andthemortalhumanaspectisjust
oneexpressionofDivinity.Thus,whenwerefertotheKemeticHighCulture,wearereferringtothis
aspectofculturethatviewedhumanityintermsofspirituality.AndfromthisperspectiveofKemetic
High Culture, there is only one diet for the physical body... vegetarian.
SinceintheviewoftheKemeticsages,theoneandonlypurposeoflifeistoattainEnlightenment,
thenitmakessensethateveryaspectofone’slifeshouldbetiedintothispurpose,evenone’sdietfor
thephysicalbody.ThiswasexpressedthroughouttheKemeticwisdomteachings,iconographyand
mythology.Itisexpressedintheiconographydepictedonthebackcoverofthisbookwiththephys-
icalbodyofAsar,anincarnationoftheDivine,layinginacoffinandwheatgrowingoutofhisbody.
SincethepurposeoflifewastobecomeDivine,becomingonewiththeDivineSelfintheformof
AsarwasseenasthegoaloflifeintheAsariantraditionofKamit.Asarwasoftendepictedasgreen,
sothespiritualmeditationrelatedtodietandeatingvegetarianfoodsisthatasoneeats“green,”one
becomesAsar-like,aDivinebeing.BecomingAsar-like,thatis,becomingaspirituallyEnlightened
personality,wasseenasthestateofultimatehealth.Thisconceptofagreendietanditsrelationship
tohealthandattainingunitywiththedivineisfurtherexpressedinthefollowingversethatwas
chanted in Kamit in ancient times by healers:

“Si i(e) mettu wadj” or “ mettu swaj” for short

Thisinjunctionforhealingcallsfora“greening”ofallthevitalchannels(vascular

system,lymphaticsystem,circulatorysystem,etc.)ofthephysicalbodytorestore

health.Itwasunderstoodthatthisprocessofbringing“green”intotheseconduits

andchannelswouldrestorephysicalhealth,butevenmoreimportantly,mental

healthandspiritualhealth,becauseautomaticallytheuseoftheword“swaj”mean-

ing“greening”wouldrendertheeffectofturningthemindtoAsar,theDivine,the

essenceofallgreeneryinnatureandthesourceofallhealing.Asaresultofthis,

boththedoctorandthepatientwouldhaveanimmediateexperienceofdivinegrace

inthewayofanexperienceofDivinePresenceandcommunionwiththeDivine.
