Fundamentals of Drawing Engineering Design with SOLIDWORKS® 2016


Activity: Exploded View

Close all parts and drawings.
428) Click Windows, Close All from the Menu bar.


Open the GUIDE-ROD assembly.
429) Open the GUIDE-ROD assembly from the PROJECTS folder. The
GUIDE-ROD assembly is displayed in the Graphics window with
the updates to the GUIDE.


Create a new drawing.
430) Click Make Drawing from Part/Assembly from the Menu
bar.




  1. Double-click B- ANSI-MM from the MY-TEMPLATES tab.
    The Model View PropertyManager is displayed.




  2. Click the View Palette tab in the Task Pane.




  3. Click the drop-down arrow and click GUIDE-ROD.




Insert the GUIDE-ROD assembly using the View Palette tool.
434) Click and drag the Isometric view from the View Palette onto
Sheet1. The Drawing View1 PropertyManager is displayed.
Note: You have the option to click and drag the
Isometric
Exploded view directly into the sheet.


Display a Shaded With Edges, 1:1 scale view.
435) Click Shaded With Edges in the Display Style box.




  1. Click the Use custom scale box.




  2. Select User Defined.




  3. Select 1:1 from the drop-down menu.




The View Palette contains images of Standard views,
Annotation views, Section views, Flat patterns (sheet metal


parts) and Isometric Exploded view (if an Exploded


configuration is created) of the selected model.


Click the Browse button in the View Palette to locate


additional models.


A goal of this book is to expose the new user to various tools,


techniques and procedures. It may not always use the most
direct tool or process.
