CLEAN DESIGN AND
RENEWABLE ENERGY
In accordance with Apple’s environmentally
friendly practices, it comes as no surprise that
Apple Park is powered by 100% renewable
energy from solar panels. In total, 9,
trees have been planted on the site,
which – despite being an enormous circle of
innovation, tech and design – is actually 80%
landscaped in total.
Many of the trees and plants within Apple
Park are natural to California, and represent
the ecosystem as it was before the explosion
of Silicon Valley on the landscape. With all of
this in place, Apple continues its commitment
to lowering pollution and creating healthier
environmental conditions for its employees
and the communities local to its multiple
sites worldwide.
Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed in a press
release how important the Californian
environment was to Steve Jobs, and that the
company hopes to inspire its employees to
create even more breakthroughs by working in
this enchanting environment: “The workspaces
and parklands are designed to inspire our
team as well as benefit the environment. Steve
was exhilarated and inspired by the California
landscape, by its light and its expansiveness. It
was his favorite setting for thought. Apple Park
captures his spirit uncannily well.”
While the jaw-dropping new valuation of Apple
Park is based on land, property and the materials
and equipment on site, the value of Apple’s
work overall to the environment could end up
being worth far more. Looking at the design,
