Missing Link
In 1886, explorer Sir Lionel Frost (Hugh
Jackman) receives a letter that turns out to
be from a Sasquatch-type creature, “Mr. Link”
(Zach Galifianakis), who lives in the Pacific
Northwest but wants Frost to help him to find
his Yeti relatives in the Himalayas. The pair are
joined by adventurer Adelina Fortnight (Zoe
Saldana) in a trip around the world.
FIVE FACTS:
- The voice cast includes a wealth of
British acting talent, including Stephen Fry
as Sir Lionel’s snobbish rival Lord Piggot-
Dunceby and Emma Thompson as the Yetis’
paranoid leader. - Missing Link is distributed by United
Artists Releasing, which was only founded in
2017 but is named after and owned by the
legendary film studio, United Artists. - The film uses the ‘stop-motion’ animation
technique, where objects are physically and
incrementally altered between individual
photographed frames that are later played
back rapidly in a single sequence. - The animation studio behind Missing Link,
Laika, released its first feature film Coraline,
another stop-motion effort, back in 2009. - Although it was Laika’s first outright box-
office bomb, Missing Link was critically
acclaimed for its humorous, heartfelt and
thought-provoking script.
