activated charcoal, and shock prophylaxis (appropriate body

position, quiet, warmth), the treatment for poisoning consists

of treating spasms with diazepam (i.v.), colic with atropine,

administering electrolytes and treating possible cases of

acidosis with sodium bicarbonate infusions. Monitoring of

kidney function is essential. Intubation and oxygen respira-

tion may also be necessary.

DOSAGE

Mode of Administration: Whole, cut, and powdered drug is

found in compound preparations. •« -

Preparation: To ma^e an extract of 1:1, use 50% ethanol; for

an extract of 1:10, use 60% ethanol. To make a tincture, mix

100 parts Thuja powder and 1,000 parts diluted spirit of wine

(EB6).

Daily Dosage: The daily dose for the extract is 1 to 2 ml 3

times daily.

Homeopathic Dosage: 5 drops, 1 tablet or 10 globules every

30 to 60 minutes (acute) or 1 to 3 times daily (chronic);

parenterally: 1 to 2 ml sc, acute: 3 times daily; chronic: once

a day (HAB1). -.. - -

Storage: Mark the container as "poisonous" and protect

from light and excessive heat.
