4.8.3.1. Points to Remember
- The .RFRQ and .DB files from the harmonic solution, and the .MODE,.EMAT,.LMODE,.ESAV, and
.MLV files from the modal solution must be available. - The database must contain the same model for which the harmonic solution was calculated.
The procedure for the expansion pass follows:
4.8.3.2. Expanding the Modes
- Reenter the ANSYS solution processor.
Command(s):/SOLU
GUI: Main Menu> Solution
NoteYou must explicitly leave SOLUTION (using the FINISH command) and reenter (/SOLU)
before performing the expansion pass.- Activate the expansion pass and its options. ANSYS offers these options for the expansion pass:

FormatEach of these options is explained in detail below.- Option: Expansion Pass On/Off (EXPASS)
Choose ON.- Option: Number of Solutions to Expand (NUMEXP,NUM)
Specify the number. This number of evenly spaced solutions will be expanded over a frequency
range (specified next). For example,NUMEXP,4,1000,2000 specifies four solutions in the frequency
range 1000 to 2000 (that is, expanded solutions at 1250, 1500, 1750, and 2000).- Option: Single Solution to Expand (EXPSOL)
