- Choose menu path Main Menu> Preprocessor> Element Type> Add/Edit/Delete. The Element
Types dialog box appears. - Click Add. The Library of Element Types dialog box appears.
- In the scroll box on the left, click on "Structural Beam" to select it.
- In the scroll box on the right, click on "2 Node 188" to select it.
- Click OK.The Library of Element Types dialog box closes.
- Click Options in the Element Types dialog box.
- Choose Element Behavior K3 : Cubic Form. Click OK.
- Click Close in the Element Types dialog box.
7.6.3.3. Define the Real Constants and Material Properties
- Choose menu path Main Menu> Preprocessor> Sections> Beam> Common Sections. The BeamTool
dialog box appears. - Enter .5 for B and .5 for H.
- Click OK.
- Choose menu path Main Menu> Preprocessor> Material Props> Material Models. The Define Material
Model Behavior dialog box appears. - In the Material Models Available window, double-click on the following options: Structural, Linear, Elastic,
Isotropic. A dialog box appears. - Enter 30e6 for EX (Young's modulus), and click on OK. Material Model Number 1 appears in the Material
Models Defined window on the left. - Choose menu path Material> Exit to remove the Define Material Model Behavior dialog box.
7.6.3.4. Define Nodes and Elements
- Choose menu path Main Menu> Preprocessor> Modeling> Create> Nodes> In Active CS. The Create
Nodes in Active Coordinate System dialog box appears. - Enter 1 for node number.
- Click Apply. Node location defaults to 0,0,0.
- Enter 11 for node number.
- Enter 0,100,0 for the X,Y, Z coordinates.
