These questions are used to determine if the SP avoids walking or exertion such as
always using an elevator or driving whenever possible instead of walking. The other
option is if he or she walks for pleasure, routinely uses stairs, or occasionally
exercises sufficiently to cause heavy breathing or perspiration.
If the SP is having difficulty choosing between the options, read the options again to
give them time to decide. Do not answer the question for the SP. Ask him or her to
choose the option that is closest to their usual activity level. If the SP refuses to select
an answer or is unable to give a response, select ‘Refused’ or ‘Don’t Know’ from the
drop-down menu. If ‘Refused’ or ‘Don’t Know’ is selected, the SP is excluded.
The ISIS system will go to the Component Status screen. The status will be set to ‘Not
Done’ with the comment ‘Unable to calculate protocol.’ Most SP’s will be able to
select one of the options. Select 1 or 2 from the drop-down menu. Press the Next
button to advance to the next screen.
