staying healthy in the fast lane
talk you out of picturing anything you want to be or look like.
Just write it down.
- Look at your perfect “health scene,” see what health goals are
present there, and write down your goals on a piece of paper. - Take each goal and write a positive affirmation about it. Al-
len has a unique way of prefacing any affirmation: “In an
easy and relaxed manner and in a healthy and positive way...”
You may end your affirmation by saying “...For this I am now
so thankful and grateful,” or in whatever way resonates with
you. - Sit quietly and imagine your perfect health for five minutes
daily. Imagine yourself being, doing, feeling, and radiating
great health, doing the things you love to do each day. - Now take each of your health goals and write a plan for it.
Take a step on each plan each week. Periodically review your
plans and adjust accordingly.
Creating a Life Purpose Statement
I encourage everyone to try this simple “Life Purpose Exercise”
by answering the following four questions that lead you to your
“Life Purpose Statement.” I believe a very important aspect of be-
ing healthy is living your life’s purpose.^2
- List two of your unique personal qualities, such as enthusi-
asm and creativity. - List one or two ways you enjoy expressing those qualities
when interacting with others, such as to support and inspire. - Assume the world is perfect right now. What does this world
look like? How is everyone interacting with everyone else?
What does it feel like? Write your answer as a statement,
in the present tense, describing the ultimate condition, the
perfect world as you see it and feel it. Remember: A perfect
world is a fun place to be. - Combine the three prior subdivisions of this paragraph into
a single statement.
