OneofthemostbeautifulmammalsinAfrica,thezebra– thatstrangepaintedhorsewithblackandwhite
stripes– is one of thosecreaturesthat just blowsyour mindwhenyou see one for the very first time.I spent
eightdays in Kenya, and five of thosein the wildlife-richMasaiMara.It was therethat I cameacrossthesetwomalezebrasin the middleof a fight.I thoughtthey wereinvolvedin somefriendlyplay, but I was wrong.Zebras
are groupedinto haremswherethereis one dominantmalewith manyfemalesand theirfoalsin eachgroup.
All youngermaleswait untilthey are big enoughto starttheirown harems.I soonrealisedthat thesetwo were
fightingto establishtheirsupremacy. The battlebecamevery violent, and one startedto bleed– I couldsee it
had beenbittenon the neckand legs. Theykept on fightingfor a long timeuntil, eventually, the injuredmale
becameexhaustedand ran away,I assumefearingfor his life. It was reallythrillingto witnesssuchan intense
encounter.I was a littlesad to see the animalsget injured, but that’sthe realityof raw nature.randeep singhlives in Jalandhar City inIndia, andhasvisitedmorethan 75 countries in his quest to photograph wildlife
