Underneath the eyes sometimes may need a little
retouchingtoeradicatedarkcirclesorheavyeyes;however
again,thisshouldbemanipulatedasnaturallyaspossible.
Softening and blending is key here, and can easily be
achieved using the same tools as mentioned before.


Destructive and Non-Destructive Editing

WhenutilizingPhotoshoporothereditingprogramsmany
photographerswillfindthattheydeveloptheirownunique
workflow,astherearemyriadsofwaystoachievesimilar
results.Generallyspeakingthereisnorightorwrong,and
it is what the photographer is comfortable doing.


However,tosaveallofthewonderfulinformationwehave
created by using the Camera RAW setting, the better
systems to protect this information are those that are
non-destructivetotheoriginalfile.Aperfectexampleof
thiswouldbewhenweconvertanimagetoB&W.There
aremanywaysthatphotographersareabletoachievethis
effect;nevertheless,notallwillgiveyouthelovelytonality
and density that another conversion may render.


Thebestplaceforthephotographertolookforanylossof
informationisthehistogram;ifnoinformationisbeinglost
theflowofthehistogramshouldbesmooth.Assoonasa
photographereditsdirectlyontothefileinformationwillbe
lostandyouwillstarttoseespikesappearinthehistogram.
Themostcommonlyusedmethodofediting imageswith
no lossofinformationis through a seriesof adjustment
layers.
