Student Guide
During the Interview
n Shake hands firmly, smile, and be open and friendly.
n Answer each question concisely and respond promptly.
n Use good manners.
n Use good English, avoid slang.
n Be alert, show interest, and be enthusiastic.
n Be prepared to ask the interviewer any questions you may have. Ask intelligent questions about the
position and the company. Do not ask questions that raise a “red” flag. For example, asking “Would
I really have to work weekends?” Also, avoid questions about compensation (pay).
n Ask for the interviewer’s business card, so you will know how to spell his/her name and have the
address for a thank-you note.
After the Interview
n Write a thank-you note to the interviewer.
n Reflect on the interview. How can you improve?
