LEADERS ARE PERSISTENT
What am I saying? Simply this. It has taken a lot of persistence and
perseverance for me to carve out the extra time needed to complete the
writing of this book. Anyone who has ever done any writing knows that
it is hard work! Writing is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration! Therefore,
I have had to be...
- Persistent over the many interruptions, distractions, and changes
of schedule that have constantly pulled me away from this
writing; - Persistent over “writer’s block” and a sense of “staleness” that
comes from often having to lay aside a writing project for weeks
at a time; - Persistent in reading over twenty recommended books on
Leadership as a part of my research for this manuscript; - Persistent in writing on my laptop computer during the long hours
of overseas flying when it would have been easier to just sit back
and relax and watch the movies or sleep; - Persistent to go to bed late and get up early – to find the extra
meditation and writing time I have needed; - Persistent in delegating and empowering my NDI staff to handle
many other responsibilities of the ministry – so I could focus on
writing; - Persistent over my natural desires to “kick back and take it easy,”
and do more relaxing and enjoyable things, rather than read and
write; - Persistent over my concerns about whether a publisher will be
interested in the book after all of my effort; - Persistent over my innate insecurities that whisper: “After all of the
work, who will want to read the book anyway?”
