Dana White, King of MMA

fighter with a string of loses or who does not put on a good show for the fans, win or
lose, find them quickly cut from the UFC.
The fighters may come and go but Dana is always there and a large presence in
the UFC and the arena of MMA. From the time Dana was very young, he loved
attention. Now he has plenty of attention, and I do not ever see him stepping into the
background and letting someone else become the face of MMA and UFC.
Some sports commentators have suggested that maybe the UFC has reached a
level where someone who is not so rash, brazen, and arrogant might be a better fit
now for Dana’s job. Some have publicly stated that someone with a little more polish
and education might be the right person for the job now. You can only imagine Dana’s
response to comments like that.
It is true that Dana has had issues and disagreements with some of the fighters
because, with Dana, it is his way or you’re out. If you happen to see things in a
different light than Dana, you change your way of thinking to his way or you are gone.
His motto is: I always do what I want and I always get what I want. I would say that
99.9% of the time this is completely true and creates quite an arrogant person. What
kind of person always gets what they want and much of the time takes without
asking?
It does not take a whole lot for Dana to get mad at someone and turn on that
person with a vengeance, and when he is the one who signs the paycheck, that is not
a good thing for that person. Some of those disagreements with fighters have been
highly publicized. Some of the fighters thought that, once the public and the fans
knew what was going on with their dispute with Dana and the fans got involved in the
issue, they would turn on Dana — but once again that has not happened. Those
fighters then find themselves on the outside and all they want to do is get back into
the UFC and fight again. They quickly realize that going up against Dana is futile.
For example, in 2007 Randy Couture announced he was leaving the UFC and his
position as an on-air analyst. Eventually Zuffa filed a lawsuit against Randy and won.
Randy is back fighting in the UFC. Tito Ortiz after a number of issues with Dana
decided not to re-sign with the UFC and go elsewhere. Tito soon found that move did
not work out for him. When Dana asked Tito to forget their past disagreements and
