Dana White, King of MMA

found a job and a place for us to live. A month later, we joined Dana Sr. in Indian
Rocks Beach, Florida, and we lived there for the next nine months.
We lived one block from the beach, and every day I took Dana and his sister Kelly
to the beach. I would get up and fix their breakfast, Dana would watch Sesame
Street
, and then we would head down to the beach for the rest of the morning.
Around noon, we would go back to the apartment for lunch, and after lunch Dana and
his sister would go down for a nap. Once the two of them were up from their naps, we
would take a walk in the neighborhood and then go back to the beach until it was
time for dinner, it was our daily routine.
Dana loved the ocean. He loved swimming, playing in the sand, and feeding the
seagulls. Dana’s love of the seaside seems strange now because one of his biggest
fears is the ocean and sharks. When Dana was in his 20’s he took a trip to Mexico with
friends. When he returned from his trip, he told me that one afternoon they had
decided to go out on one of those blow up bananas that is towed behind a small boat.
The person in the boat drives so that in a very short distance and short time everyone
on the banana is thrown off into the ocean. Dana said, “I hung onto that thing for
dear life, there was no way in hell that guy was going to dump me in that water.” He
said, “I knew there were sharks out there and I wasn’t going to be part of their food
chain.” He said, “the driver of the boat did everything he possibly could to dump
me,” but it just didn’t happen. His friends said everyone, even people on the beach
were laughing watching the scene play out, the driver of the boat doing every
maneuver he could to dump Dana and Dana holding onto the banana for dear life.
Although when we lived in Florida, Dana liked playing in the sand, but he did not
like having sand on him. He was always coming up to me at the beach asking that I
brush the sand off his arms or legs. He was by no means your typical little boy who
was always getting dirty. In fact, Dana was the exact opposite, always wanting to take
a bath or to change his outfit, he didn’t like being dirty. When he was only two years
old, he would change his clothes three or four times a day.
He was in his bedroom one afternoon and being very quiet. When I peeked around
the corner to see what he was doing, I found that he had pulled all his clothes out of
his dresser draws and most were on the floor as he was pulling on a pair of shorts. I
