  1. Qiuyu, a 32-year-old from China, entered England to study as a
    mature research student. Wishing to ‘integrate’ fully in her new
    environment she adopted many of the dietary habits typical of the
    country. After six healthy months, she unfortunately suffered a bout
    of viral gastroenteritis that required hospitalization. Qiuyu, fortu-
    nately made a complete recovery and was able to continue her new
    lifestyle. However, she again became ill again, but with severe indiges-
    tion, abdominal cramps, intestinal bloating and periods of diarrhea.
    Symptoms were most pronounced about one hour after breakfast.
