Common Core Math 8 Page 1
Prerequisites:
Common Core Math 8
- Successful Completion of Common Core Math 7
The concepts studied in Common Core Math 8 parallel those in the Common Core 8P Concepts of Algebra course but with a different depth,
breadth, and pace, thus allowing time for discovering and understanding basic concepts. Students will demonstrate an understanding of
the connections between the various branches of mathematics by applying computational skills, mathematical reasoning, and introductory
algebraic and geometric principles to model and solve real-life problems. Students will demonstrate a basic understanding of rational and
irrational numbers, exponents and scientific notation, proportional relationships, linear equations, functions, systems of equations,
geometry, angle relationships, volume, statistics and probability.
After successfully completing this course, students will be allowed to enroll in Algebra I Part 9A or Pre-Algebra. In some rare cases, if they
student meets the district’s Algebra I requirements, the student may enroll in Algebra I K/CC.
