plant limitations can be built within this application. It also enables you to
measure the impact of excess emissions and determine corrective actions,
and employ sophisticated scenarios and tools to indirectly measure emis-
sions, such as greenhouse gas emissions (these are estimated using electric-
ity consumption data).

Creating reports and documentation
With SAP Environmental Compliance’s data warehousing capabilities, you have
the power to analyze and present data and scenarios, generate and distribute
data and reports, and maintain accurate, current information regarding all
authorities involved. Moreover, you can deploy the application to manage
role-based employee access to plant- and process-specific permits.

Controlling trading and collaboration
Gaining access to emissions trading markets requires your company to collect,
document, and verify the data that is called for by various regulatory agencies.
False or inaccurate data can result in the appearance of counterfeit credits on
the open emissions markets. It goes without saying that those parties who are
responsible can suffer punishments ranging in severity from fines to forced
closure.

SAP Environmental Compliance gives you data management capabilities and
reporting functions that adhere to formats required by regulators, plus inte-
grated interfaces that connect to market places and trading platforms. You can
comply with strict regulations and data provision requirements while taking
advantage of all of the benefits of trading emissions and none of the risk.

SAP Environmental Compliance at E.ON Energie

One of the world’s largest private energy ser-
vices providers, E.ON Energie employs a work-
force of 66,000 around the world, with 40 plants
and buildings across Europe. Its subsidiary, E.ON
Benelux, provides energy to the Netherlands,
Belgium, and Luxembourg.
E.ON Energie needed to implement a low-cost
solution that would ensure total regulatory com-
pliance while increasing compliance efficiency
and reducing costs for exception and incident
management. At the same time, they wanted to
reduce their risk of noncompliance and simplify
their reporting processes.

SAP Environmental Compliance gave the com-
pany the tools it needed to meet these goals. It
enabled them to automate their emissions, com-
pliance, and permit management processes. The
solution also provided them with the means to
generate transparency and flexibility in the eval-
uation and analysis of their emissions data. The
company was given an emissions data-auditing
solution that meets modern accounting require-
ments, as well, along with support for automatic
data uploading via SAP ERP and other systems.
