Fog or mist forms when warm air comes in contact with cooler surface air, or when
cold air passes over warmer water or damp land. Just like with rain, we’re essentially
looking through a veil of water droplets, which obscures the edges of the objects
beyond. Cold fog or mist takes on a silvery, almost white, cast, while warm fog or
mist exudes a warmer cast. Fog isn’t gray; because it’s comprised of water droplets,
and water reflects, always consider the colors nearby or behind the veil of fog that’s
between you and the rest of the landscape.
