Thames was tightened up,
new regulations came into
place and in 2002 the first
lifeboat service was
established, a dedicated
Search and Rescue service for
the tidal River Thames, with
four lifeboat stations, at
Gravesend, Tower Pier,
Chiswick Pier and
Teddington.
