Battersea to have received
any coverage in recent years
was that of a five-metre-long
Northern bottlenose whale. It
was spotted on 19 January
2006, having swum through
the Thames Barrier, the first
time the species had been
seen in the Thames since
records began in 1913. The
following day it was seen at
Battersea and then, near
Albert Bridge, it was captured
and lifted into a barge, but
