Portal 2 is my all-time favourite

game. I credit it as what fired up my

passion for the medium, and ten

years later it’s still holds up as one of

the best puzzle games ever made.

Everything about Valve’s creation is

seared right into my brain – ‘thinking

with portals’ is an understatement.

Disco Elysium is a very close

second in my personal rankings.

From the incredible voice work added

with the Final Cut update, to the

environment, to the puzzling

mysteries, this is as close to a perfect

RPG as we’ve seen. Bonus points for

Kim’s incredible jacket.

Something about Getting Over It

just speaks to me. Probably the literal

voice of the titular Bennett Foddy, as

he goads me for my latest fall and the

hours of lost progress it represents.

Outer Wilds makes you watch the

universe end every 20 minutes. But

it’s not scary – it’s peaceful. You hop

into the abyss knowing that your next

maybe, you’ll figure out how to make

it last this time.

Hitman 3 is a playground for those

looking for anything from a

nonsensical adventure to a serious

covert mission. IOI crafts such

beautiful and in-depth levels for you

to explore, pure sandboxes for the

flavour of chaos you enjoy most. And

regular updates have kept it fresh.

If you’re like me and love a little bit

of over-the-top cheesy dialogue,

relationship drama, and some

head-bopping bangers, Life is

Strange: True Colors is for you. It was

my comfort blanket game last year,

giving me new friends, new enemies,

and super powers.

It’s 2022 and I’m recommending

Dark Souls. I hadn’t finished it until

recently so I’m still allowed to fawn

over its incredible narrative, boss

design, and intricate environment. I

never thought I’d complete it, so if

you’re understandably hesitant, this

is your sign to give it a go.

Sometimes a girl just needs to sit

back, relax, and powerwash. This

entire game revolves around the

satisfaction you get from seeing

items go from disgustingly dirty to

sparkling clean using the power of

high pressure water. It sounds

mundane, but it’s magical.
