  1. Organize the class into groups of two for a pair-share activity.

  2. Review the global wind patterns by asking students what they would expect to see
    on a satellite image at areas of convergence and divergence.

  3. Distribute to each group of two the following materials: GOES image and two blank
    t r a n s p a rencies, world map, two diff e rent colored transparency pens, work sheet.
    A l t e rnating groups should have GOES images for opposite seasons of the year.

  4. Direct the students to complete steps #1–3 on their worksheet.

  5. Pair each group with another group that has a GOES image for the opposite
    season of the year.

  6. Complete steps #4 and #5 of the procedure with the class.
