here mentioned, as on all the Saitic monuments,t

denote the great temple of Neith at Sais, andthe goddess who

is here designatedas the central object,"IT, in the temple is no other

thanNeith.

I have longsinceJ shown thatthe phonetic valueof the wasp
1^ is net or nat when it occurs in the titles of the king and of

the royal officialcalled\jfcQ^(= Jjjgo ( = ^|)

ThisY is to be read phoneticallyin? Y = ygfa , Suien Nat.

I have also quoted§ the proper name of the goddess as

appearing underthe two equivalent forms \@Zi£fa@^0 fl """^(I ° and

Y (1. Another variantis Y (1. " Ant is the name
q o 1 a o c» l/vww mini
of a place whereNeitandher son Sebak wereworshippedtogether
withotherdivinities.

The reading se-\etas applied to the sign jgcj is absolutely
without authority. Thealliterative textT whichwassupposedto
includethe sign in the s series doesnot really do so. Thelast

nameof Hathor in the column is v ^ <2>- 3& ; and it is only

whichis affected by the alliteration.
