However, satisfactory reductions of indicator bacteria and viruses have been
reported for the BARC system, and the system is essentially unaffected by low
ambient temperatures and/or rainfall. It does not require pile turning (which is
rather labor intensive), and should be applicable for nightsoil composting in hot
climates (Shuval et al. 1981).
