As Professor Ermanhas pointed out, this givesus two calendri-
cally importantfacts, viz.: thatit thundered and rained (in the
Delta)on the festivals of the birth of Set and Isis, the third and
fourthof the supplementary daysof the year, and that theyfell on
the third and fourth of Thoth.
Zarumight possiblybe Sebennytus, but it is much morelikely
to be the north-east fortresswhichwe know wellas rffZj p^-0,
capitalof the XVIth nomeof Lower Egypt. It is perhaps the
same as Avaris, the capitalof the Hyksos, and has often been
identifiedwith Tanis, thoughI am inclined to place it at Sethroe.
The facsimileis not very goodhere, but the signs markedas
doubtfulin my transcription are hardly clearerin the original than
in the facsimile ; the rest are certain.
No. 86 is composed of two strips torniroma papyrus of accounts,
and anciently pastedovera weak placein the roll. On the original
theydo not join properly; their re-arrangement in the plate, I
believe, was due to Eisenlohr, but he did not risk a transcription of
the fragments. Theoriginalis considerably clearerthanthe copy.
