Thefirstword(line1), may be completed mussuluor nussulu.
Saltti*and fiiptido not occur in Briinnow's " Classified list."
Theyseemto be synonyms, andthe latter probablycomesfromhepft
" to destroy." For saltum, cf. the Heb. ^D-
Litti,also,doesnot occur underthe heading »^f^in Briinnow's
list, butthe principal character of the Akkadian column,"^'eT,
dar,is given by him (No.3487)withthat meaning (alsotitu,perhaps
another form of the same word). Hailu(line7), seems to mean
" flail " (Jiaidlu $a seim, "to beat, of corn ").
Diku,whichtranslatesthe Akkadian gi-al-gaz(z)a(rootgaza)"to
kill,"" smite," apparentlyindicatesa kind of scourge. It translates
threeAkkadianwords,the last of which is the same as that of the
nextline.
Kanti$uruptum, "caneof burning," apparentlymeans"torch,"

as do also the five words immediatelyfollowing(thethird,giiillu,in
line12, is borrowed fromthe Akkadian). Tipari, however,is the
usual word for " torch." Gigti is doubtful bothas to form and
meaning.
