Without Disclosing My True Identity
upcoming chapter covering exactly how the translation was done, one will come to realize that
nothing was actually “translated.” What came through the Urim and Thummim (“two
stones”) was put there by the advanced beings responsible for what the Book of Mormon was
supposed to say.
Joseph could not understand the characters engraved upon the plates even though
he had engraved most of them as Mormon. Joseph was not given the ability to recall the
languages he spoke in other incarnations. This is because thoughts are the same in all
languages; and all languages are merely imperfect forms of mortal communication. To do
what was intended for the Book of Mormon, Joseph’s mortal brain needed to communicate in
the language intended for the translation at the time he transcribed it, unmolested by the
influence of any other tongue.
Along with his enhanced memories, Joseph was given gold plates, actual relics that
he had made with his own hand. Because he had made them (and now he could remember
making them) and because he had spent tens of hundreds of hours inscribing them during
his incarnation as Mormon, the plates had come to have much more meaning and a greater
vested importance to Joseph. A mortal needs inspiration and motivation, because of the
flesh, to spend tens of hours in tedious work holding the stones over the plates. However, in
scarcely a fraction of the time it would take to attempt translating the actual characters, the
real authors of the Book of Mormon could essentially “text” to the stones what they wanted
Joseph to write. This is precisely what happened.
While in the end, the gold plates were simply a prop, Joseph’s vested mortalities in
the production of them was a powerful internal motivator urging Joseph on towards
fulfilling his mission. One day, decades later, they were again used to get his brother and
fellow servant—the reincarnated Hyrum—to also spend tens of hours tediously holding the
stones over the gold plates.^29 This time the labor of translation was to publish The Sealed
Portion of the Book of Mormon—the Final Testament of Jesus Christ, which is twice as long as the
unsealed part (hence, the reference to the two-thirds portion of the plates as compared to the
one-third portion which comprises the Book of Mormon).^30
It’s all about motivating the mortal flesh to do the work of advanced human
monitors of our mortal existence.^31 Putting one’s life in constant jeopardy requires some
additional justification to the mortal mind; and the continuity of effort put forth in Joseph’s
various identities did just that. Regardless, whatever advanced beings need to do to
motivate the mortal they have chosen and raised up for the role, they will do!
Confounding the Mighty With the Weak
Joseph was born into and reared in a poor, struggling family on a farm next to
nowhere as part of his preparation to fulfill the plan of the advanced humans who were
monitoring his development. There was nothing remarkable about Palmyra, New York or any
other of young Joseph’s addresses in the early 1800’s. If it weren’t for the notoriety Joseph
Smith later brought to that area, it wouldn’t be known for much at all except for the
construction of the Erie Canal. The “great minds” and authors of that day were not farmers;
they were highly educated and usually wealthy individuals (and they didn’t live in Palmyra).
To keep Joseph humble and motivated in his role, advanced monitors adlibbed and
orchestrated many things with wisdom and purpose. From arranging who his parents and
siblings were, to how many times the Smith family was forced to move because of a failed
business or crops, advanced humans knew what needed to be done to ensure their work
