Without Disclosing My True Identity

Planting Seeds for Presenting the Law of Consecration

The young Joseph was greatly affected by all of these things. He didn’t like how his
mother treated the father whom he adored and often felt sorry for; and he came to dislike
the free-market system established by capitalistic America. This developing point of view
was part of his intended preparation so that one day he could offer the people a different
option to this way of life, which would later be known as the Law of Consecration or the
United Order.^9 This economic system was based on what Joseph knew the ancient apostles
learned from the teachings of Jesus. The Christian scriptures were very clear about how the
first apostles set up the people after they finally understood what Jesus tried to teach them
during his ministry:

And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their
possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.^10

Joseph would be mandated to attempt to get the people to “give heed and
diligence”^11 to this part of the “word of God.” In “this (the greater) part,” they would be
taught the “economy of God” (vs. the systems of man and religions) and told how to live
in peace and harmony with each other—the most important part of the information that
Jesus taught to the people. Joseph assuredly knew that if the people failed to “give heed
and diligence” to this commandment, wanting instead capitalism and a church, then they
would be “given the lesser portion of the word until they knew nothing concerning his
mysteries; and then they would be taken captive by the devil, and led by his will down to
destruction.”^12 In the end, the people failed either to understand or support and live this
United Order^13 Instead of living the “higher law,” they got their church, with its
ordinances, rituals, and a religion^14 that would cause them to stumble exceedingly.^15

Feeling the Results of Capitalism and the Free-Market System

Joseph’s experiences during this time of his life helped him to see the great
importance of the “commandments of God” (the United Order; equality in all things)
compared to the misery caused by the “commandments of men” (capitalism and the free-
market system, accompanied by the inequalities of wealth and status and religion). The
young Joseph never forgot these things as he witnessed his family suffer from the effects of
“American freedom” and the desire to make as much money as one wants, in whatever
manner one wants, no matter what the human or societal cost. When it came time for him to
introduce the principle that would have saved the people had they lived it correctly, Joseph
used all the energy of his soul to convince them to give “heed and diligence...to the portion
of his word which he doth grant unto the children of men,”^16 but it was to no avail.
Again, everything about Joseph’s youth was divinely orchestrated to prepare him for
his mission; everything about his family life was predetermined long before the foundations
of this earth by those who have been witnessing human mortals go through mortality for
eons of time. These advanced resurrected humans knew exactly what to do to prepare him.
They knew what life experiences would be needed. Their job was to ensure the greatest
success for the completion of his mission without violating the eternal laws of free will. By
growing up around a mother who desired worldly comforts and a father who was too
