Thirty-One (1836)
Therefore, he did what he became proficient at doing—he allowed them to have things
their way with as little involvement from him as possible.
The people turned the “everlasting gospel” into a new LDS gospel and standard
that centered around attending church, fulfilling church assignments, supporting the
General Authorities, obeying the “Word of Wisdom” (which Joseph did not obey
throughout his life),^54 and paying a full tithe. Most significantly and hypocritically, they
would not associate with anyone who had views and beliefs contrary to this new LDS
gospel.^55 If one were to ask a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
today what the “gospel” is, the member would reply that it is abiding by the doctrines,
covenants, and ordinances of the Church. Even if a person disregards all of the
commandments given by Christ to the people, as recorded in the Book of Mormon and the
Bible, that member is still regarded as a faithful member, endowed and worthy, as long
as he or she fulfills the requirements of the Church set forth above.
Each part of the counsel that Christ gave to the people, the Saints rejected and
ignored. The priesthood leaders and missionaries were more often than not angry with the
people who wouldn’t listen to their message, calling them fools.^56 Never did they “agree
with [their] adversary quickly while [they were] in the way with him,”^57 but contended
upon points of doctrine^58 and scripture, always maintaining that they had the truth and no
one else upon earth did. LDS/Mormon men constantly lusted after other women who
weren’t their wives, committing adultery in their hearts.^59 They were taking out credit
wherever they went, forswearing themselves to the people whom they often never repaid.
When they were smitten on the right cheek, they never turned the other cheek,^60 but
sought for revenge, even calling upon God to revenge them of their enemies.^61 From Zion’s
Camp to the formation of the Danites,^62 the LDS/Mormon people sought to give their
enemies an “eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth,”^63 contrary to the words of Christ’s gospel.
They became isolated and selfish; and, having very little to sustain their own wants and
needs, they often turned away others in need because these others were not members of the
Church of the Latter Day Saints. They hated their enemies—those who cursed them and
hated them, despitefully used them, and persecuted them.
The Modern LDS Church Continues in Rebellion
In more recent times, as the mainstream LDS/Mormon Church has prospered
and gained much more in goods and wealth than their needs have required, they have
been known to give alms unto the poor.^64 Yet they announce how much they contribute
in their publications,^65 letting the world know that they give to charity and care for the
poor and needy.^66 Furthermore, they have built ostentatious churches, temples,^67
conference centers,^68 and even the biggest retail mall^69 (marketing being “the desires of
[the] great and abominable church”^70 ) in their new, modern Zion—Salt Lake City, Utah.^71
The “God of this world” has truly blessed them with the prosperity in his kingdom.
Their leaders and missionaries dress no differently than the most successful
businessmen and political leaders of the world. Dressed in their “fine clothing”^72 they
tout their righteousness to any who pay attention to them in “the synagogues and in the
streets, that they may have glory of men.”^73
They pray with their mouths, using vain repetition, “for they think that they
shall be heard for their much speaking.”^74 Joseph taught them the “true order of
prayer”^75 in the presentation of the LDS Temple Endowment, which they do not
