Without Disclosing My True Identity
mortal stages of development, it was not hard for them to portend the outcome of human
nature; and this they did in presenting Mormon’s life as a story that would parallel what
they knew would occur during Joseph’s.
A Story Carefully Woven Together
Before this biography covers more of the uncanny parallels between Mormon’s and
Joseph’s experiences (many of which began in the year 1838), some items of great importance
must be explained to further the reader’s understanding of the true purpose for the Book of
Mormon. The reader needs to understand why it was created, who created it, how they created
it, and for what purpose it was created. There are profound and clear clues throughout the Book
of Mormon that show that it was a nineteenth century creation based on biblical parallels (both
true and false). There are clues that contemporary knowledge at the time was used in creating it,
and that it was loosely based on actual historical facts and evidence.
There is no doubt that the Bible was used as a source for Book of Mormon names,
places, titles, and events. There is no doubt that the King James translation was used both as
a guide in how the prose is presented and in the actual interpolation of its translations. This
is evidenced by the vast amount of verses taken directly from the book of Isaiah in the King
James Bible. Deservingly, critics who are wont to destroy the credibility of the Book of
Mormon without considering the powerful message it contains, have published countless
diatribes against it.^26
Parallels Between Book of Mormon Names and Those of the Nineteenth Century
One of the most convincing arguments that it was a 19th century invention,
ironically, helps prove the Book of Mormon was written by advanced beings, who loosely
based its names and stories on the reality of actual historical events. Consider the facts
surrounding the names of “Cumorah” and “Moroni.” If one were to look at a map of the
world, one could notice a small group of islands off the east coast of Africa, between
Mozambique and the northwest corner of Madagascar.^27 This archipelago is called
“Comoros,”^28 pronounced exactly like the English pronunciation of the Book of Mormon
word, “Cumorah.” Its capital city is named “Moroni.” According to the Book of Mormon
story, Moroni buried the gold plates in the “Hill Cumorah.”
Critics claim that somehow Joseph had access to a map of the world (although very
few maps in the 1800’s even had that island annotated),^29 that he found the tiny island of
Comoros, and changed the name to “Cumorah” for the Book of Mormon. Then, they claim
that he used the name of its chief city as the name of the character who buried the plates and
returned to the earth as an advanced human more than 1400 years later to show him where
they were buried.
There isn’t an LDS/Mormon apologist in the world who can effectively explain
away this seemingly apparent evidence that the Book of Mormon was an invention of Joseph
Smith’s mind. They can’t explain it because they don’t know why, who, how, and for what
purpose the book was created. Joseph knew. And because he designated the present author
to publish this authorized and official biography, which reveals the truth, this author also
knows and was instructed to explain the synchronicity of the names.
As mentioned previously, the Book of Mormon record is loosely based on actual
historical facts that occurred during the time that the record covers. The events described in
