Without Disclosing My True Identity
Go, and tell this people, Ye hear indeed, but ye do not understand; and ye see
indeed, but perceive not that which ye see. Therefore thou shalt give unto
them that for which they seek, and those things which they do not
understand, for they seek to hear heavy things, and their hearts are full of
excess because they desire that which maketh their ears heavy, even that
which they do not understand. Preach unto them much and make their ears
heavy with your preaching; yea, make the heart of this people fat in that
which they desire, but shut their eyes to the truth that would heal them; For
they are a fallen people who seek not the Lord to establish his righteousness
so that they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand
with their heart, and convert, and be healed.^44
Fulfilling More Book of Mormon Prophecy
There was no set procedure in the Church for reporting everything that Joseph said.
Everything that LDS/Mormon biographers and historians use as their historical references
(critics included) came largely from the personal writings of lay members and other Church
leaders. Therefore, there are two obvious strikes against anyone reporting what Joseph
supposedly said: 1) Joseph speaking and writing in parables; and 2) Personal filters and
hearsay testimony coming from second- and third-hand witnesses. In understanding their
own doctrines, beliefs, stories, prophecies, truths, and Church gospel, the modern
LDS/Mormon people do not realize that they are fulfilling these words of their own Book of
Mormon prophecy:
And therefore, he that will harden his heart [against “the fullness of the
everlasting Gospel as delivered by the Savior”], the same receiveth the lesser
portion of the word...until they know nothing concerning the mysteries.^45
Reading the Book of Mormon, the people still do not “see” and understand what it is
telling them about itself. In no uncertain terms, Mormon tells the reader that the Book of
Mormon does not include “even a hundredth part of the things which Jesus did truly teach
unto the people.”^46 Mormon reveals that the Book of Mormon is “the lesser part” that will
try their faith, and if it shall so be that they believe these things then shall the
greater things be made manifest unto them. And if it so be that they will not
believe these things, then shall the greater things be withheld from them,
unto their condemnation.^47
The “White Horse Prophecy” and Other Mormon Myths Become “History”
As early as 1830, the people set the Book of Mormon aside as their guide and began to
establish a religion and a church that would supplant the “fullness of the everlasting
Gospel” contained therein with their own LDS version of the gospel. From that time
forward, as Joseph “delivered unto them many things which they cannot understand,
because they desired it,”^48 their LDS faith and gospel grew exponentially according to the
vain and foolish imaginations of their hearts.
