Without Disclosing My True Identity

Joseph knew there were no such things as “sealing powers,” especially not ones associated
with LDS priesthood authority as it had evolved in the Church. Joseph knew exactly what
the “angel” Moroni meant when that advanced human quoted the exact same verses of the
Bible, above, only this time quoting the verses “differently”^63 —putting the plain and
precious parts back in and revealing the real truth of their meaning:^64

Behold, I will reveal unto you the Priesthood, by the hand of Elijah the
prophet, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he
shall plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers, and
the hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers. If it were not so, the
whole earth would be utterly wasted at his coming.^65

But, again, in Joseph’s speech, he did not quote the verse correctly as given by Moroni who
had replaced the mistranslated words “the hearts of the fathers to the children,” with “plant
in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers.”^66 Instead of telling the people
the truth, Joseph gave them what they wanted to hear. He stated,

Now the word “turn” here should be translated “bind,” or “seal.”^67

Joseph had actually changed Moroni’s words for his own purposes! Moroni’s
version had absolutely nothing to do with any sealing power. This was the first time that
Joseph spoke of this “sealing” principle, which had not even been introduced into LDS
doctrine until this day, January 21, 1844! Joseph’s scribes quoted him as saying,

[W]hat is the object of this important mission? or how is it to be fulfilled?
...the Saints [should gather together and] come up as saviors on Mount Zion.
[And] how are they to become saviors...? By building their temples, erecting
their baptismal fonts, and going forth and receiving all the ordinances,
baptisms, confirmations, washings, anointings, ordinations and sealing
powers upon their heads, in behalf of all their progenitors who are dead, and
redeem them.... [H]erein is the chain that binds the hearts of the fathers to
the children, and the children to the fathers, which fulfills the mission of
Elijah. ...The Saints [should] save and redeem their dead, and gather together
their living relatives...to [the temple], that they may be sealed and saved.”^68

When Joseph received through the Urim and Thummim the part in the Book of
Mormon that became 3 Nephi 25 where Christ quotes Malachi, Joseph was told not to
quote what Moroni had said, above, but to take the verses as they were given in the King
James Bible. In this way, the advanced monitors could “try the faith of [the] people.”^69
Christ’s explanation in the Book of Mormon had nothing—absolutely nothing—to do with
any sealing power performed in a temple.
Any resemblance of keeping the tenets of the “fullness of the Gospel delivered by the
Savior”^70 had disappeared among the LDS/Mormon people forever. From this point on,
their hearts and minds were forever turned to genealogy and temple work, believing that
they were to be “saviors on Mount Zion.”^71 The people changed the tenets of Christ’s gospel
into the LDS/Mormon gospel of carnal commandments, and made temple work an integral
part of LDS/Mormon “commandments of men” and salvation.^72 Joseph knew all along that
