6.Using a^1 ⁄ 16 ” drill bit, drill holes into each end
of the rectangle wire pieces with a handheld
rotary tool, flex shaft, or drill press (while still
wearing your safety glasses!).
7.Use the file or fine grit sanding pad to
eliminate any burs or rough edges left from
drilling holes into the rectangle wire pieces.
8.Curve both 1” pieces of rectangle wire into
a shape using a ring mandrel and rawhide
mallet. If you do not have a ring mandrel and
rawhide mallet, use two pairs of chain nose
pliers. Holding one pair in each hand, grasp
each end of the 1” rectangle wire piece in
the chain nose pliers and gently bend the
rectangle wire into a “C” shape, aligning the
holes that you drilled on each end of the 1”
rectangle wire pieces. Compare both of the
C-shaped rectangle wire pieces and adjust
the curves so that they are similar in size.
Set these aside.
9.Use the ruler to measure the chain into 1”
pieces. Use the wire cutters to cut the chain,
and set these pieces aside.
